Preventative Care
The goal of preventative care is to prevent injuries or damage to your body occurring in the first place.
Preventative Assessment involves a postural assessment to ascertain if there are any underlying structural issues that may need intervention. Preventative care is relevant in identifying pre-existing factors that may be a precursor to your condition.
These factors may involve occupational, sporting, recreational activities or as a result of a pre-existing or past injury.
At the beginning of your consultation, your Myotherapist will perform a thorough physical and neurological assessment. This assessment will include the following:
- Posture
- Muscle symmetry (muscle tone, contraction, wasting)
- Skeletal symmetry (scoliosis, leg length differences, hip, knee and foot positioning)
- Strength and reflex testing
- Special orthopaedic tests
After the assessment is performed you will get a treatment aimed at correcting or improving any dysfunctions that were found.
Your Myotherapist will then discuss a variety of treatment plans with you, a plan will be established & a corrective/preventative exercise program will be developed specifically for you to help reduce the likelihood of future injuries.
